Hello all. Our loved one, family member, friend, and co-worker, Heather, experienced a medical emergency a couple of weeks ago. She’s been in/out of the hospital with continued complications but is now home with family and on the path to recovery. Please join me in continuing to show our love and support by raising some funds to ease the financial burden of these unexpected medical bills and to help her family through this time of need.

Here’s a few words directly from our girl, Heather.

7 days ago, I started having severe stomach pain. I tried to ignore it and sleep it off, but it would not resolve. I was in Pendleton to work at St. Anthony’s for the week. I called my boss, and he immediately took action and encouraged me to go to the ER and took me to
St. Anthonys. CT showed an abdominal bleed that couldn’t be addressed there and I was life flighted to KADLEC in Richland, where I went to IR and had my GDA embolized, but there was no real site located where the bleed was from. I had bowling ball sized hematoma in my adomen, for no known reason, and the bleeding continued. It was not safe to perform surgery, as the hematoma was actually slowing and/or blocking the bleed. It was touch and go for the next 3 days in the ICU. I started showing signs of improvement and was moved to the Medical floor. I’m being discharged today!!! I will be off work for a couple weeks and it will take a month or two to fully recover. I am so grateful to the people in my life that dropped everything to be there for me, even from a distance. I didn’t realize how large my village was. I received excellent care at both hospitals, and am being told I am lucky to be alive. Do your best to remember how precious life is!

Soooo, I came to to the ED on Tuesday with a low grade fever and also wanting some better pain management. ED Doc sent me to CT, had labs drawn and wanted to observe overnight . There was evidence of some bleeding and labs were good. I was to go home on Wednesday, but at 6am, excruciating pain returned. I was moved to ICU and sent to CT again. My hematoma had doubled from 10 cm (thats down 8 cm from the previous week) the previous day to 21 cm, and was sent to IR. IR Doc was able to locate and block the bleeding with 3 coils. I was stepped down from ICU on Thursday to PCU and am recovering, feeling even better than the previous week. I have been treated like nothing but a super star and am lucky to be alive. It hasn’t really hit me yet, emotionally. Thank you to all that have kept me in their tots and pears, and have offered support. I have never felt more loved.

I know she is truly grateful and thankful for all the care, love, words of encouragement, and support. For whatever you can give, Thank you!
