ACE 5th grade goes to Science Camp!

Our School
At our school, we know that our students deserve to be exposed to a rigorous level of STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Approximately 96% of our students receive free and/or reduced-price meals, but we know they are capable of competing with wealthier peers if given the opportunities. STEM curiosity could ultimately motivate our students to break through the glass ceiling which exists in their community and lift themselves and their counterparts into college-bound mindsets.

Our 62 5th graders are bright, fun, energetic kiddos who love to learn with their hands. They're curious about everything and enjoy asking deeper level questions about science and nature. They love to learn and do best when they can see the "why" behind the day's objective.

Our Project

This project will cover the cost of two round trip bus trips and all meals so we can send our 62 5th graders on the Vida Verde Nature Education Trip. Vida Verde is a 3 day, 2 night outdoor education trip where students will milk goats, make cheese, hike through the beautiful redwood forest, roast marshmallows by a campfire, sleep in teepees, and explore tidepools! Its goal is to encourage young people to explore the outdoors and learn to love all that nature has to offer.

Generously, Vida Verde programs are offered free of charge to under-resourced Bay Area schools. However, our school is finding difficulties in paying for other costs of the trip, including buses and meals. This campaign would cover our buses ($3,000), meals ($500), and GoFundMe fees ($250).

Vida Verde is an amazing trip for our 5th grade kiddos and we would love to see them get this opportunity to learn about our beautiful natural world. All of your generosity is greatly appreciated!
Thank you for taking the time and reading about our project!
