Ross Hammond is the godfather of the Golden Gate Park disc golf course. Without him and his efforts circa 2000-2006, this course would never have been built. He has the wits, honesty, and tact to be able to talk to people in the highest offices of government, and his representation of the SFDGC enabled us to officially gain traction in the park with our first course at Marx meadow. He has additionally been a continued supporter of the game all over the state of California, helping design and install courses like China Peak, which is probably the most bad ass course I've ever played. Let's honor Ross with a lifetime PDGA membership for all of his efforts!
Here's Ross and Peter Black flashing the victory sign at city hall, October, 2005, winning us the right at a packed (with awesome disc golfers) Parks commission hearing to not only become a permanent facility, but expand the course to the 18 holes we see today.
