OPERATION CLEANUP of the Animal Care Espana (ACE) Shelter
Donation protected
Help raise money to prevent the risk to our animals of fire and snakes‼️
ACE Charity is a large shelter in Spain (Malaga) currently caring for around 500-700 dogs and cats who are waiting to be adopted across Europe, and even occasionally worldwide.
The shelter does not receive government funding, so this is a desperate call for money to clear the weeds, bamboo and debris surrounding the shelter and the adjacent riverbank before the summer. These are a fire risk and the snakes can kill or make our animals very sick. One dog was recently bitten by a snake and subsequently died.
Why is this action so important?
Every year, the land surrounding the shelter poses a serious fire hazard. With the dry summer months and fast-burning vegetation, it only takes a spark for disaster to strike. The risk of fire is the main reason we have launched this initiative – we don’t want to wait until it’s too late. We want to be prepared.
In addition, the dense overgrowth attracts snakes, which are a deadly danger to our animals. Tragically, one of our dogs recently died after being bitten by a snake. We are determined to prevent more losses like this.
Our team has already managed to clear part of the area by hand, but the remaining sections are far too overgrown to tackle without the help of heavy machinery. And while the municipality is technically responsible for maintaining the riverbed, every year it’s the same struggle: will they do it, or not? And if they do, it’s often too late – or not done properly at all.
That’s why we need your help!
Every euro you donate will go directly towards clearing the land and creating a safer environment for our animals. Together, we can make a real difference.
Donate now and help us prevent fires and snake bites this summer!
