ACDC Half Marathon

On June 3rd I took part in the Cork City Marathon. I ran the Half Marathon (21Km), in the company of many great people. Despite being a bit behind on my training schedule, I ran every step of the way with the help of two significant inspirations.
My primary inspiration was to raise as much funding as possible for two charities which are very dear to my heart. These charities are Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Multiple Sclerosis Ireland. The funds that have been raised will be equally divided between these two very worthy charities. These two causes are very significant and personal for me having lost my Dad and best friend to MND and now both my Aunt and first cousin are suffering from MS. These are two very severely debilitating and life changing diseases and require ongoing care and management. The great people at IMNDA and MS Ireland require constant funds to properly care for the thousands of people who suffer from these two Neurological conditions. Your support here, however large or small, will hugely help these two charities to continue with their crucial work.
The second inspiration that I used to get me through the 21Km was that I ONLY had the music of the greatest band of all time playing in my headphones. The one and only AC/DC. The experience was amazing and they will remain my running inspiration forever more.

There are updates and some pictures of the day  on my Twitter account, @EL_PEL1 using the hashtag #ACDCHalfMarathon

This GoFundMe page will remain open until Friday June 8th. Please help me in our quest to raise as much funding as possible for these two great causes.
It was one of the most humbling experiences of my life and the support that I received from so many people was incredible. Thank you so much to my family, my friends, all of the kind people who donated in any way, the people who ran with me and wore the special running tops, to those people who collected on the streets of Cork during the race, the people who supported and shouted encoragement along the run, the 2 great Charities, IMNDA and MS Ireland for their help in so many ways and to everybody who liked, retweeted, reposted all of the social media messages.

For those who supported, We Salute You.
