My name is Elsie Owusu. I am an architect and a Director of JustGhana, working in UK and Ghana. We started this project because we believe that every child and all adults deserve to feel safe on our roads. Every day in Ghana, children and women face dangerous roads with little or no safety guidance. Busy traffic, unsafe crossings, lack of visibility, and low awareness put thousands at risk—especially schoolchildren and women who rely on walking or informal public transport.
We are launching the Children & Women’s Road Safety Project, a life-saving road-safety education initiative designed to protect 1,000 school children and 200 women through practical training, visibility tools, and community outreach.
Your support will help us achieve:
- Train 1,000 children
- Interactive, child-friendly sessions using demonstrations, games, and supervised practice near school roads.
- Train 30 teachers (“Training the Trainers”)
- Teachers will receive certified training and safety toolkits to continue the programme every year.
- Support 200 women
- Community training for mothers, market women, female transport workers, and caregivers on safe commuting and protecting children.
4️⃣ Provide Safety Materials
