Accompaniment Project

Borderlands Unitarian Universalist (known also as the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Green Valley) invites you to join us in the Accompaniment Project. Our congregation is walking with direct humanitarian aid groups here in Southern Arizona to meet people migrating through the Sonoran Desert. Our shared goal is to end suffering and death in the desert borderlands.
BUU partners with No More Deaths ~ No Más Muertes , People Helping People , and the Samaritan chapters in Ajo , Tucson , and Green Valley - Sahuarita. We offer them our church building and organizational resources listening to the unique needs of each group and working together to meet those needs. Together, we are currently developing: 
    - fee-free usage of the BUU church in Amado,
    - a washer and dryer for volunteer and migrant laundry,
    - a first aid station for humanitarian aid,
    - fiscal sponsorships, and
    - overnight accommodations for university students coming to the area to learn alongside these groups (all with appropriate pandemic safety practices) .

We are deeply grateful to the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) and the Unitarian Universalist College of Social Justice  (UUCSJ) for their encouragement and support. Through their generous gift of $2,000 we were able to initiate the purchase and installation of a washer and dryer for a new laundry room at BUU.
