Accomodation for mums cancer surgery in aberdeen
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Abbie and my mum hilary has been diagnosed with stage 3B ovarian cancer in August this year. Soon after she had her first surgery to remove her fallopian tubes and ovaries. She has been receiving chemotherapy since. Last week we got the news that the surgeons have offered her some life saving surgery which will enable her to have a longer (hopefully) remission. However this surgery will involve removing her uterus, omentum, some of the peritoneum and possibly her spleen. This could also leave her with a stoma bag. This surgery will be up in Aberdeen as its the only place in scotland that does this kind of surgery. Everything has happened so quickly and they have given us her surgery date for 31st of December. Christmas is a difficult time enough as it is for the family and I never thought we would be in this position to ask for this kind of help but in order for me & my sister steph to be with mum it would mean booking a place to stay in hospital grounds which would mean £50 per person per night and thats not including food. We understand mum could be there minimum one week but this depends on a lot of things as this is major surgery. I will also need to take some time off work as there is no way we would let her go through this alone.
