Accommodate Ukraine

Donation protected
A big hello! We are two Brits living in Prague called Nick Marley and Jenny Goodwin. And we need your help.

Over 100,000 refugees, mainly women and children, have entered The Czech Republic in the last two weeks. Some are looking for permanent accommodation, especially mothers with newborns. Some only need temporary safe space to rest. Prague is getting overwhelmed.

We spent the first few days preparing and delivering our donations such as prams, toys, a high chair, and spare warm clothing.

Since then, we have started hosting families in our short-term rental apartments that we either own or manage in the center of Prague. We are working with the Prague Hlavni Nadrazi train station volunteers to make it happen. The volunteers call us throughout the day to see what we have available. We then arrange to meet the families at the flat. Before they arrive, we buy groceries and essential items for them. We also give them a small amount of cash. It is incredibly difficult to change Ukrainian currency in Prague, so this is also essential!

We have also accommodated three women and one child in our long-term apartment. But we would like to offer more.

The situation is not good. We are running out of accommodation here. Secondary schools are now required to turn their sports halls into temporary housing. Families will be sleeping on a mattress on the floor.

We are asking for your help. One hundred percent of donations collected will be used on groceries, financial support or long/short term housing support for Ukrainian families. The last week alone, we hosted over twenty people.
Any amount is appreciated! The families we have met are proud, resilient people but are also arriving with one rucksack and no usable currency. They are also exhausted, having traveled a long way and with no certainty of their future.

These people are also in a very vulnerable position. They go in a taxi to an address given to the station, trusting that the person receiving them is honest. The risk of exploitation is high.

We will continue safely and comfortably accommodating as many refugees as possible with your support. It means a lot to us.

Thank you very much

Nick and Jenny
