Lighting projects and the tools to create them are not easy to access. We want to create accessible lighting modules for use on accessible vehicles (such as wheelchairs), bags and clothing.

Often lighting projects, especially for wheelchairs, are very clinical or medical - We wish to bring colourful and unique designs that are tailored around user's specific needs.

We also wish to release the code as open source to teach other people and therefore giving them the knowledge. With relative ease our designs can be used and modified at little to no cost to the end user.

About Jessica

Jessica has been interested in electronics and computing since a very young age. Recently she was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and now uses an electronic wheelchair to help get around. She noticed that most wheelchairs lacked personalisation and many lack simple lights that are easy to control without getting out of the chair.

Jessica is driving this project and is creating a lighting set for her wheelchair to showcase a finished product. It is her intention to hold a workshop later in the year to demonstrate the designs and teach others how to build and modify the accessible pixels to their needs.

Your Donation

We will be grateful of any support received for this project, and will offer content and materials throughout the design and prototyping phase.

If you wish to make a donation and receive some prototyping hardware such as microprocessors or lighting modules, we will provide these with certain tiers of donations. You can also just donate if you want to support this great project without any physical benefit.

Donations will be used for buying hardware, such as microprocessors, plastic housings, power-banks, supplies for the 3D printer, and product marketing materials.

We believe that this project will benefit a lot of people, and hope to get people together creating and modifying their own Accessible Pixel - suitable for their own needs, whatever they may be

Roadmap

We have a roadmap for the prototype version, which we will be releasing soon so that you know how long each step will take.
