Accessibility Ramp for Make Shift

At Make.Shift Art Space, we strive to make our space an inclusive and accessible place for our community. Our front door ramp started out as a lovely DIY project, but now it is need of an immediate upgrade. As a non-profit organization, we rely solely on income from tenants, sponsorships, and donations from community members for our operational budget, including these necessary upgrades. We are asking the community to help us raise funds to replace our ramp with something that is functional, durable, and safe.
We are thankful to all the folks who brought it to our attention that the ramp is unsafe and outdated. In the latest blizzard this year, we realized that the wear and tear has made the ramp slick in times of inclement weather. In an effort to ensure safety for all of our guests, we are asking the community to help us raise $2,000. This will cover the cost of a new ramp, and associated fees for shipping and installation.
Because we do not own the building, we needed to research a ramp that would work well with our rental guidelines. The ramp we selected also works well for our needs as a community space and requires minimal construction. We have included a link to that ramp here. With your support we know we can raise these much-needed funds within a short time frame. In the event that we raise more than our goal or if we need to adjust the limit due to unexpected circumstances, the additional funds raised will go toward Make.Shift’s operational budget and programming as a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Our long-term goal is to make the space accessible in its entirety. While this ramp will not solve all the issues of the space, it is one very important step towards making our space a safe and welcoming environment for all.
