Accessibility and independence for Sharon
Donation protected
Hi, I am raising funds for my sister Sharon who needs to be able to access outdoor venues independently. She was in a car accident when she was 19 and was resuscitated on site. She sustained a traumatic brain injury, among many other issues, and was in a coma for over three months. We were told she would not ever be able to walk or talk again but God has proven the neurologists to be incorrect. Praise God! She resides, today, in a family care home in Kenosha but we spend most weekends together. We enjoy going to the forest preserve, the beach and many outdoor venues. Sadly, it is not always easy, or accessible, for her in the wheelchair and she relies on me to get her to these places, which can be a challenge! Sharon needs a little independence and I need to be able to help her. This is the reason we are doing a fundraiser for her to purchase a mobility scooter. I have tried to go through Medicare but there are very few Medicare approved supply houses and most of them are out of stock. I have found a local supplier, mobility city in Grayslake, that sells them and also does repairs on site. They have two brand new scooters (pictures attached) for $1100.-, which is far less than the $3000 that most companies charge. I am asking your help, in any small financial way, to purchase this. I know most of you know Sharon Gray as we grew up in Libertyville and have many friends in the area. If you can help in any we would be most grateful, thanks, God bless, Deb
