Access to life-changing stem cell treat

Dear family and friends,

This is one of the hardest things we have ever had to do. We usually handle things privately, but this time the road in front of us is bigger than we can manage on our own.

As you already know, Ted is eight now, and if you’ve spent time with him, you’ve seen his joyful personality shine through. He still loves ribbons, spinning objects, and anything that moves with rhythm. You’ve also seen the challenges he faces every day.

Ted has autism, sensory processing disorder, and Down syndrome. In daily life this means he does not speak yet, is not able to use the toilet on his own, always struggles with sleep, and sometimes finds it very difficult to process sensory input. It affects everything he does and everything we do as a family.

With two other children, including another on the autism spectrum, we are constantly trying to balance everyone’s needs while giving all our kids the best future we can.

Over the past few months, we have been researching and speaking with specialists about what more we can do for Ted. That journey has led us to stem cell treatment. It was not an easy decision, but we believe it gives Ted a real chance at an improved quality of life.

Each treatment cycle costs between $14,000 and $25,000 (depending on location). Most children need three to four cycles for the best chance of meaningful improvement.

We are planning to travel for Ted’s first treatment by March 2026 (during Easter School Break). Our goal is to raise $51,000 to cover three sessions, at around $17,000 per session in Central America.

Once we reach close to $17,000, we will book Ted’s first session and begin treatment, then continue fundraising so he can complete the full course.

Our hope for Ted is that he will start speaking before his 12th birthday, stop the constant humming and vibration sounds, recognise when he needs the toilet and be able to ask, and, of course, start sleeping well. We will keep you all updated on his journey as we go along.

We know times are hard for many people, and asking this is incredibly difficult. Any support—through a donation, sharing our story, or keeping our family in your prayers—truly means more than we can put into words.

Thank you for walking this journey with us.
