Claire does the Deadly Dozen for Access Adventures
Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.i
I have decided to take part in the Deadly Dozen in Oxford on the 2nd August to raise money for Access Adventures.
You might be wondering what is the Deadly dozen?
It is an event that features both track and gym-based challenges designed to test physical endurance and strength.
It consists of 12 x 400m track runs with 12 x labours (exercise stations)
And is by the far going to be the hardest event I have ever done in my life!
Why did I chose Access Adventures I hear you ask?
Well let me explain, I went to the longest day ride fund raiser as few weeks ago and saw what a great charity it was and how it has helped a lot of people and what a great community they have.
I was speaking to a family friend who has been going to Access Adventures and he was explaining how much it had helped him, not only the sports side, but also the mental side, unfortunately he his losing the mobility of his legs due to M.S and unable to do all the activities he once could.
I suppose it just really hit home how lucky I am that I can still do all the sports and fun activities I want to do and not only that, but even the day to day walking that we all take for granted, it must be so hard slowly having to stop all the things that bring you so much joy and that’s where access adventures help, they bring the joy of sports and activities that people love back into their life’s!
Yes it will be one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but I should feel privileged that I get to do it when others can’t but would love to!
I know that everyone’s money is precious especially these days, but if you donate what ever you can, big or small it will make a massive difference!
Here is just abit more information about Access Adventures so you can get an understanding of what they do: Access Adventures was founded to provide fun adaptive programmes, hoping to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities by giving them access to sport and outdoor adventures Research has shown that taking part in sport and having regular exercise can help improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.
