Since 2015, I have had a growing interest and passion for Korean culture and entertainment. It has inspired me to take on learning hangul (the Korean alphabet) and the language itself, as well as navigating me towards possible career options in South Korea. One of those careers being a music video editor for entertainment agencies. I have posted several of my music video edits to Twitter, and they have gained traction, one even getting nearly 10,000 likes and over 4,000 retweets. I have received many messages from Twitter users across the globe, urging me to pursue video editing.
A year ago, I discovered a program called CIEE which was offering a summer abroad in Seoul, South Korea. This piqued my interest, though I couldn’t apply due to ongoing health issues that are now under control. Fast forward to this year, my senior year of high school. I revisited this program and decided to apply for the summer abroad in Seoul. Over 3,500 other students applied for this program, and I was fortunate enough to be one of the students chosen. Now I have to get there :).
I am in the process of getting a part-time job to help with the tuition of the program, which initially is $5,350. The program itself is incredible; 3 weeks in South Korea, lodging in dorms at renowned Yonsei University in Seoul, workshops on Korean culture and language, lectures from music producers and songwriters, as well as a trip to a small village to stay overnight in a hanok (traditional Korean house), and a variety of other incredible opportunities that would not be possible without participating in this particular program. Through this program, my knowledge of Korean culture and history would broaden greatly and I would earn a Certificate of Learning in Korean Arts & Culture. My family is helping me as much as they can, but I know I will need more support in this pursuit. This would impact my life greatly and it would mean the absolute world to me if I got your support too!
here is one video edit I made with video clips from the most popular Korean group, BTS.
