Fuel the Future with Gaucho Racing
We are Gaucho Racing, a student-run engineering team from UC Santa Barbara competing in the Formula SAE Electric Competition. Every year, a team of 45+ passionate UCSB students design, build, and race a fully electric, Formula-style car from the ground up. The journey ends in June, when we compete against 70+ university teams at the national competition in Michigan.
But we’re building more than just a car.
Our mission is to equip the next generation of engineers with real-world, hands-on experience in design, manufacturing, project management, electrical systems, data analysis, sustainability, and more. Our alumni go on to work in the automotive, aerospace, energy, and tech industries—because of what they learn here.
Gaucho Racing is entirely self-funded, relying on the generosity of sponsors, alumni, and supporters like you. Your donation directly supports:
- Materials for our 2025 race car (carbon fiber, motors, batteries, sensors)
- Specialized tools, testing equipment, and machining time
- Rent for our shared workshop space
- Safety gear and competition travel
- Software licenses for CAD, simulation, and data analysis
