Tara’s road to recovery

Donation protected
In October 2022, following complications from routine surgery and after multiple visits to A & E, Tara was diagnosed with Bladder Pain Syndrome (BPS) - also known as Interstitial Cystitis (IC). This rare and poorly understood condition has caused Tara's bladder lining to become ulcerated and inflamed, leading to severe, excruciating pain, frequent bleeding, and an urgent need to void the bladder every 20-45 minutes. Tara, has been experiencing these debilitating symptoms persistently - day and night.

Over the past two years, Tara has tried various treatments, including long-term catheter use as well as bladder installations and stretching procedures, all of which have been unsuccessful. The catheter caused frequent infections, leading to four instances of life threatening sepsis over a 3 month period. Despite strong pain and bladder medications, nothing is able to alleviate the relentless pain or reduce the need to void the bladder so frequently. There is currently no cure for BPS/IC and, unfortunately, specialists have exhausted all treatment options, leaving the bladder permanently damaged.

The impact on her life has been nothing short of devastating. Once independent and active, Tara is now reliant on carers for daily activities. She is housebound, depending on the use of a wheelchair - requiring special help - due to severely reduced mobility.

After working in the NHS for nearly two decades, all of this has resulted in her losing her job, her social life, her emotional and mental wellbeing.

Despite the immense challenges, Tara and her family remain determined to find a suitable solution.

The Path Forward:

After several private consultations with leading specialists, Tara has been offered a door of hope: a protocol that includes natural, holistic specialist care - a package that could improve Tara’s quality of life and completely change the trajectory of her future.

How You Can Help:

As can be expected with unique and bespoke approaches to such a complex diagnosis,
the cost is estimated to be at least £12,000.

By supporting this campaign, you will help to give Tara a chance to regain her quality of life after two years of constant debilitating pain and continuous suffering.

Any support you can provide, whether through donations or by sharing this campaign, will make a significant difference
