I'm back again asking for support with another campaign. This year, we are trying to raise $1848 for one single field trip...yes, one field trip costs us almost $2,000!!! My Kinder class, our first grade class, and our 2nd grade class (22 kids in each class) would LOVE to drive over the bay bridge from East Oakland (Fruitvale) and visit the Academy of Sciences in San Francisco.
Each class is studying one of the exhibits there and we are very excited to put our knowledge to the test! We are also very excited to see the rainforest exhibit and the aquairum filled with jelly fish, manta rays, and even SHARKS!
Here is the financial break down of our field trip and why we are asking for so much money.
2 buses for our 67 students: $1200
81 ticktes (including teacher and chaperone tickets) for admission at $8 a ticket: $648
Here is a little background information on my school and our smart, hard-working, hilarious students:
Who: Aspire ERES Academy, a Tite I school in Fruitvale, Oakland, 94% students are Latino and 90%+ on free or reduced lunch or breakfast, Grades K-2 are trying to go on this field trip!
What: Field trip to the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, California!
How you can help: Please donate any amount of money! Every little bit will help us make this field trip happen! Teachers are given $700 each year to spend on classroom supplies and books for our libraries. All of our money has been used up as we tried to get more books for our students this year and we bought basic things like pencils, erasers, paper, scissors, glue sticks, etc.
Why: Our students live 30 minutes from the heart of Silicon Valley, the wealthiest area, and yet they do not have the access to basic things like a field trip to an educational and fun museum. This inequity breaks my heart and we teachers try to do as much as we can and spend as much of our own money as we can each year on ourkids. If you donated, it would bring an experience to our students that they wouldn't normally get. our babes didn't choose the zip code they wanted to be born into, and you can help give them an adventure that they will never forget by donating!
I am thankful for any and all donations. I know that money does not come easy for anyone. I appreciate you even taking the time to read this campaign.
