Hey there! I am an aspiring makeup artist, with hopes of eventually becoming a professional makeup designer for TV/Film and Theater. I just completed an intensive beginner’s beautician course at Make Up For Ever Academy in NYC, I attend any workshops that I’m able to, and I follow many makeup artists on YouTube.
I would like to keep the learning process going smoothly – the only thing slowing down the process to almost a dead halt are the finances needed for my education.
Working 2 jobs has helped me save a bit here and there, but I have struggled to stay afloat while keeping on top of my bills. I come from a family background that doesn’t have the means to help support me financially. This makes affording education an obstacle.
A little bit about me: from ages 5-16 I lived in Alaska in a very small town (the "everyone knows everyone" type). Before that I was living with my mom in a station wagon and we were in and out of women's shelters. I left Alaska when I was 16 and attended college immediately after high school for a couple of years. I stopped when I realized that I was accumulating a large debt while remaining undecided about what I wanted to do in life. After a lot of soul-searching I now know what I want and where I want to be, which is why I'm here on Gofundme to "crowd fund." I fully believe that having an education is what will make the difference between having to work low wage jobs my entire life, and actually having a career.
I am hoping that by creating an account here, I may have a chance to jump-start my savings and start school sooner! I would like to start attending classes for a master makeup program by this fall. The tuition for most of the master makeup artist courses I have found is around $17,000-$25,000. Every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated!!!
