Hi guys! I've run into a bit of bad luck. I went on a girls trip to Italy, and this morning at 1:30am our airbnb was robbed while we were sleeping. My friend woke up to a sight of a man in our front door entrance staring at her into her bedroom. The intruder came into my room from my balcony while I was in bed, and took the majority of my belongings. He took my credit cards, cash, passport, drivers license, camera bag with a ton of gear, iPad Pro and a lot of my personal items. He also took my friends MacBook pro and hard drive. At the end of the day, this guy took easily over $16,000 in our possessions. We called the police right as it happened, and they continued to hang up on us and ignore our calls even after we told them the man was still in the building. Police finally arrived at the scene sometime after 3am. They wouldn't write a report and told us we should write a report at the office in Naples or Rome. Well today, police informed me this is "normal," and there's nothing they will do to help us. We wrote a report, though they said they would do nothing to move forward with investigation. I slept through this man creeping through my room and even taking my watch right off the nightstand next to me. I have a whole month planned here and Europe and not much left to work with. My camera gear is a big contributor to my source of income. I'm working with insurance as best as I can. I'd appreciate any help I could get while we deal with this situation. What was meant to be a fun vacation, turned into a pretty traumatizing and stressful situation. I'm glad my friend was awake and saw him... though it was too late to save our belongings, none of us were physically harmed.
