Dear Friends,

I am setting up this fundraiser to help a member of our community with her legal fees. She is attempting to break free from an abusive husband while eventually regaining custody of her child. For her safety, I will not be using her name. She was given a court appointed lawyer who after a lengthy battle indicated he was done with this case. We have hired a local female attorney who agreed to a greatly reduced rate for the first 10 hours of services and we raised 3,000. dollars to help with the mounting fees. She is in need of $8,440 more just to bring her account up to date and her lawyer is telling her this could go on for a lot longer, her best estimate being another $6,000. Her husband has extensive resources and is dragging this out in an outrageous abuse of our legal system. He is not afraid to lie to the court and was able to manipulate the system so she was unable to see her young child for a month. She may now have supervised visits. I have seen her interactions with this precious child and supervised visits are in no way warranted. Due to Covid, she has been sheltered by a close neighbor for the past 8 months but is needing to leave and find her own housing and a full time job. She is also trying to get a plane ticket back to her family for some rest and rejuvenation from this exhausting ordeal. I know this is a challenging time for everyone on many levels. If you feel you can help towards our goal, we would so appreciate your help. If you can help with affordable housing or work, she is very nurturing and loves working with young children.
