Yoga in The Little Brown Church

Hi! My name is Rachelle and I am a yoga instructor who teaches, practices, and lives in Missouri Valley, Iowa. My yoga studio is called Abundant Moon Yoga and my highest intention is to help people develop a more loving relationship not only toward their bodies, but also toward themselves through the practice of yoga. The Abundant Moon Yoga Studio is a place where EVERY body is welcome, regardless of age, size, physical ability, or income tax bracket. Classes are only $5 each and I strive to teach in a non-judgmental, body positive way; meeting students where they're at in life, and encouraging them to "use what they've got". Missouri Valley is a small railroad town about 25 miles north of Omaha, Nebraska. I currently rent a little space in a building on 6th Street, near the railroad tracks, on the east side of town. While the studio space is warm and cozy, we are quickly outgrowing it.  On the west side of town, off of the main road is a church that has been sitting empty and has been on and off Missouri Valley's real estate market (to my knowledge) for at least the past two years. I have lovingly dubbed the church "The Little Brown Church" and this place calls my name. I intend to purchase it, restore it, and turn it back into a community space. Last year, before I rented our current space, I did make a play to buy it. I created this GoFundMe campaign and we raised a little bit of money but not enough to put a down payment on the building. Shortly after, "The Little Brown Church" was taken off the market by it's owners and I ended up renting the space that we are currently in.  Now it's back on the market and has been calling to me once again. It needs a little bit of work; the walls are a strange color of blue/gray and the carpet is beyond coming clean even with an industrial carpet cleaner. I'm told that there are beautiful wood floors hiding underneath the carpet but they would need refinishing. I'm asking for your help in not only purchasing and renovating "The Little Brown Church" so that it can be the forever home of Abundant Moon Yoga, but also so that it can be a space where budding artists and musicians can showcase their talents, and where other local  teachers can gather their students for "enlightenment".  Why don't I just go to the bank and get a loan, you ask? Did I mention that I believe in making yoga accessable to ALL and only charge $5 per class? LOL Honestly, I AM working with my local bank but I believe in small business and small towns. I believe in the spirit of community, and of helping one another. We have students not just from MV, but many drive in from neighboring towns; some from as far as 30 miles away. Supporting this campaign supports those people too!
