On Friday, January 10th of 2020, Yeyo (nickname for my grandpa, Jose Farfan) woke up complaining of difficulty breathing. He was barely able to move and said his body was too weak. He had an exacerbating episode of dry cough and began to spit out blood. We took him to the closest ER, but he was then transferred to West Kendall Baptist ICU for multiple symptoms hinting at pneumonia. The intensivist had to intubate him, sedate him and paralyze him and he is now in very critical conditions where his lungs are filled with fluid, his heart is too weak and his kidneys are beginning to fail.
He came to the US from Venezuela a couple of months ago to visit us and spend the holidays with us. Little did we know that he would end up in critical conditions requiring the attention of multiple health care professionals.
Given that he is a US visitor, he is considered an international patient and does not have health insurance. The hospital is now requiring a deposit of $8000 to settle his debt while other organizations will take care of the rest of the increasing hospital bill.
It is with a heavy heart that my family and I ask for the help of our friends and the community to gather the sufficient funds to pay for this bill while we hope his health improves as the days go by. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated as we continue to look for ways to help him get better.
We pray that your contributions are returned to you with health, peace of mind and love.
Thank you,
The Farfan Family.
