Aloha and thank you for taking the time to visit our fundraiser, we appreciate you! My name is Meghan and I am helping to raise funds and coordinate donations for the Abrojina-Cho ohana on Kona Drive in Ocean View, my best friend and neighbor, whose home was severely damaged by Hurricane Lala. Extreme winds blew their roof off, walls collapsed, and they lost nearly everything they owned either ruined by the rain or smashed by falling trees or blew away into the lava fields and was broken or lost. They need so much help to get back on their feet so we humbly ask for any assistance you can offer. We are beyond relieved that nobody was injured- it was a terrifying and traumatic event for them. Their ohana was displaced and separated for weeks.

Lynelle, Kaweka, and their 4 keiki and 1 moopuna are the most strong, caring and selfless people I’ve personally ever met, and I know a lot of people in Ocean View feel that way. They are always first to feed, clothe and house anyone who needs it without judgement, despite having very little themselves, but they always tell everyone else not to worry about them even when they need help. Well now they really need our help! Donations will be used for urgent repairs to their home, and to replace the rear windshield of their only reliable vehicle which was shattered by debris and is needed immediately, buying supplies like gas food, and clothing, and replacing other essential items needed for daily living.

Lynelle and her ohana have experienced a recent horrific tragedy of losing her dad and and beloved community elder uncle Abel, to needless violence by 2 members of the community who have not been brought to justice. Additionally, Kaweka has been dealing with serious heart problems and a brain mass that causes frequent health emergencies which prevent him from providing for their family as much as he wishes he could. This all weighs very heavy on their ohana and now nearly losing their home entirely in this storm, I can only imagine the grief they are feeling and the stress of how to make ends meet and keep everyone together and safe.

I pray in Jesus name, may we help them rebuild, recover and rest from so much tragedy, and may we do all we can to meet their physical, financial, emotional and spiritual needs, Amen!
