one day in a life of Sienna

I accompanied my daughter Sienna to her blood exchange appointment at the hospital. As we arrived, we were greeted by two familiar nurses who welcomed Sienna with warmth and genuine happiness.

As I watched the nurses prepare Sienna for the procedure, I was struck by the sheer scale of the blood exchange process. Six bags of blood, donated by six generous individuals, were waiting for Sienna. I couldn't help but think about the what-ifs: what if those six people had decided not to donate blood? What if they had been too busy or simply hadn't considered the impact of their donation?

For Sienna, these blood exchanges have been life-changing. They've given her the chance to live a semi-normal life, free from constant crisis pain and organ damage. Of course, there are still tough days, but they're far fewer and farther between thanks to these treatments.

As I looked around the room, I saw two other young patients receiving blood transfusions - one received 10 bags, the other 8. In total, the three patients received 24 bags of blood, made possible by the selfless donations of 24 individuals.

That's why I'm taking a moment to plead with you: if you're able, please consider giving blood. Your donation could be the lifeline someone like Sienna needs to live a fuller, healthier life.
