About to lose home and need help
Hello, everyone. Honestly, I didn't want to do this but times are extremely desperate. As it is, my mother and I are in danger of losing our very home and being homeless.
Our rent per month is $650 for a 2-bedroom downstairs apartment and due to unfortunate circumstances, we're behind almost two full months in rent. My mother, who primarily got most of the income for the rent, is now unable to work due to heart disease and high blood pressure. Her doctor has told her she is not allowed to do physical work and where we live, that's about all one can do without extensive degrees. I have applied for a job in a grocery store, but unfortunately even that will not be able to pay all of the rent and get the broken-down car fixed. As it is, I will have to set aside money every week just to be able to afford taxis to and from work, which will hurt saving money even further.
In total, we are behind almost $1,500.00 in rent and require money to help fix the car (the transmission and potentially the entire engine is busted. It's possible it could come to a lot of money) and any and all funds for food and taxi travel to and back from work will help tremendously.
We have no relatives that can or will help us and we have already attempted selling items, cutting back on food and other resources, going to the town office for help (which they refused), and getting jobs wherever we can. As it is, the interview I got today was the first potential job offer in a long time and on 1 bi-weekly income, it's very possible we could lose the house before I even get my first paycheck.
If we were to go to the homeless shelter, we would lose everything we own besides what we can carry, which would probably only be our diabetes medication. We don't have much...but if possible we'd like to hold on to what little we have.
As it is, we need the money as soon as humanly possible. We have no ideas when the landlords will decide to throw us out, and they're getting very angry with us, losing their patience and generosity.
Any and all help that can be given is tremendously appreciated. We will pay it forward to others in need once we are back on our feet.
