Many of you know or know of my mother Mary Kenny. She is an amazing person who has spent better part of her life helping and taking care of others. Over the last year things have change drastically for her, instead of caring for others she is the one who needs care. 

For the last 25 years my mothers has dedicated herself to caring for others as a nurse. She is someone who treated all her patients family and made sure they were taken from the moment they enter her care to the moment passed away. Her job did not stop when she clocked out, she also took care of my father who was extremely ill a better part of his life and myself who has been chronically ill since I was 10. She did not hesitate to take time off of work and care for my grandmother when she went on hospice. Even now, as she is not well she still tries her hardest to help others when she can. 

In May of 2019 she was suddenly diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer with a metastasis to the lymph nodes and underwent a lumpectomy. A few weeks later she made the decision to have a bilateral mastectomy. She went through a very aggressive chemo therapy followed by weeks of radiation to treat the cancer. Through all of this she stayed positive and grateful to be alive. 

Since her diagnosis any complication that was possible has happened. She has had bilateral blood clots in both lungs. She underwent emergency surgery on the 4th of July for a massive infection in the affected breast. She has what the doctors are calling "chemo brain" which basically is periods of extreme confusion hallucinations. She is also very fatigued and chronic pain all the time.

Although she desperately wants to go back to work, unfortunately at this time it is not an option due to all the complications she has faced and is continuing battle. At this point she is no longer a candidate for disability through her job and has to pay cobra to keep her insurance. She applied for Social Security Disability, which can take up to six months for approval. She has been using her savings which is unfortunately and quickly dwindling.
