Abigail was the tender age of 4 weeks old when her mum & dad first heard of Biliary Atresia (B.A.). Following a flight to Brisbane and extensive tests, Abigail underwent a Kasai procedure at 9 weeks of age. She recovered well and therefore returned home to her family.

what is Biliary Atresia ? (in short):
* It affects the bile ducts that carry bile from the liver to the intestines.
* It is progessive.
* It causes bile to remain in the liver.
* It damages the liver, causing scarring, loss of liver tissue amd ultimately liver function.
* It is not something you can catch.
 Initially, treatment is an operation performed in infancy known as the kasai procedure (named after the Japanese surgeon who developed it). This operation aims to re-establish bile flow from the liver to the intestine. If the kasai procedure is not successful, the usual treatment is a liver transplant within the first 1-2 years of life.

 Abigails family live in outback QLD, about 2000kms away from the treating children's hospital. Recently Abigail got unwell and had to be air lifted to Brisbane for treatment. While in intensive care, she had a cardiac arrest ( due to fluid build up caused by her liver) and had to be resuscitated. that's when we learned the process towards relocation would begin.

 The impact of these recent/sudden changes on their family (mum, dad and 3 siblings) has been huge. Loss of work has been hard. Need for local accomadation, private transport (car), living expenses, relocation expenses, medical expenses and many other unforseen expenses is a mountain that can be moved with the support of those that care. please help to keep Abigail and her family together.
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
