I got baptized at 10 and by the time I was 13 I felt like God was calling me to be a missionary and to work with children in Asia and show them that God is a father to the fatherless. Although I couldn’t really do much with that yearning at the time I researched and read about other missionaries and their journeys and started babysitting and volunteering at a daycare. Between the ages 14 and 16 I was a leader at my home schoolco-op and that helped me grow a lot spiritually, I would write what we called devotions that were like mini sermons which helped me with my public speaking and speech writing, I am a natural extrovert so even though interacting with people came naturally to me public speaking did not as I would often have a hard time with writing the devotions or mumbling my words.
When I was 15, I went to a YWAM Rally where they had a couple different speakers and a worship time at the end, I had gone with a friend for the beginning part of the Rally but she had to leave before the end when we had the worship time. During the worship time it really impacted me and I had a interest in YWAM.
Last year I went on a mission trip with a friend of mines youth group to Nebraska and that showed me areas that I was lacking in for missions, but it also strengthened my love for missions and my yearning to go help kids in other countries and share the Gospel with them, over the past year since that trip I have grown in many ways.
This YWAM trip came about when I was looking for volunteer work in my community because I had such a feeling of wanting to do mission work and felt like it was time to put my hand to something. I called a variety of different places from Mount Vernon to Bellingham and the doors just kept closing or people wouldn’t call me back. One of the places I called was YWAM and they mentioned a Tentmakers program that is a month long and different options for where to travel. I showed a little interest and then decided to focus more on my volunteer work here but doors just kept closing. Well YWAM kept calling and pursuing me so I decided to look more into it. Looking more into it God just kept opening the doors for this trip and it feels like this is what God has been preparing me for my whole life, to show people that there is a father that loves them, that can heal their broken hearts. I have felt since I was 13 that I was supposed to go to Asia and now on my first mission trip I have the chance to go to Asia and help others and share the good news with them. It feels like God has fulfilled what he said I would do from meeting people at the YWAM Rally, to them reaching out to me, to it being in Asia. It all has happened so fast that I know it must be God.

I get to go with YWAM Tentmakers on the Justice and Mercy track for a month! I leave on July 1st for training and head to Nepal on the 10th or 11th, I will be back on 31st of July. On the Justice and Mercy track I will be helping and ministering women and children that have been in different types of slavery. I will also be working with children in the youth centers or kids from the area we will be staying in.
The one challenge I have is that this has all of this has happened in the last two weeks, and God has opened the doors faster than I can keep up with them! And then it happened...
A mission trip to Asia working with children and the broken hearted and I knew it was what God had for me! My trip will cost $3,000 which includes; airfare, travel expenses, food, training, and housing. My plan is to reach out to families I know and do babysitting and yard work through the month of June. So far I have booked enough work to raise about half the money. I am writing to my friends and family that have encouraged and supported me throughout the years for three different reasons:
First I would like to be covered in prayers in my journey and my trip overseas and ask that you come alongside me in this exciting opportunity! I am compiling a list of people that would like email updates during my trip. Lastly, if you feel led and are willing I still need to raise $1,600 dollars and would be grateful for your support! You can email me your mailing address and email address at [email redacted], message my mom through facebook, or good ol post office at Abigail Horn 3776 Old Hwy 99 N Rd Burlington Wa 98233.
Thank you for your support, I am very excited to embark on this next step in life,
Abigail Horn
