Abigail Grace Henson

I am reaching out for support of Nathan and Kate Henson’s( my nephew) journey into parenthood. After many failed pregnancies, they are currently pregnant with their first child to be, a little girl named Abigail Grace. At week 16, Abigail was diagnosed with a giant omphalocele, a medical condition that causes the stomach not to close all the way and allows organs to form outside of the body. Ten weeks later, at week 26, the high-risk doctor noticed an abnormality with the heart. They were sent to a pediatric cardiologist where little Abigail was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot which is a rare cyanotic congenital heart disease caused by a combination of four heart defects that are present at birth. After this, the high-risk doctor sent Nathan and Kate to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital where it was decided this is where they would have to deliver their sweet little girl for her safety and Abigail will have to stay at Vanderbilt for at least 6 months in the NICU.

 Abigail will have two surgeries - one to correct the omphalocele shortly after birth, and one open-heart bypass surgery to correct the defect on her heart when she is bigger and stronger around 4 to 6 months of age. This means Nathan and Kate will have to relocate to the Nashville area, 3 hours away, to stay with their little girl. Nathan and Kate could use your help with the unexpected expenses of having to relocate to Nashville due to the high cost of living while having to do what is best for little Abigail Grace. Please donate what you can because every dollar will be a huge help for them to assist with food, parking, rent, and medical expenses and to ease their minds and alleviate the stress of this long journey.
