Abigail and her Double Jaw Surgery

If you are reading this, you’ve probably heard about my need for a double orthognatic surgery. I was born with an underbite and throughout the years it has developed and affected my life drastically, both physically and emotionally. Not only has it been the cause for many self esteem issues growing up and into adulthood, but most importantly, it has been the cause for many health issues such as pain, headaches, indigestion from improper chewing, and lack of sleep from improper breathing. For many reasons, I had delayed the process, thinking it might not even be possible for me due to the extremely high expense and recovery time. But at this point, I feel like I need to make this change. My surgery is scheduled for March 24th, 2021. The full process will require braces, removal of my 4 wisdom teeth, and surgery on my top and lower jaw to reposition them, totaling $22,670. The recovery time will be about 3 months.  I cannot imagine what life will be like when I can actually bite into my food, close my mouth while I am sleeping or resting, and fully smile for pictures among many other things.
