Hi Everyone,
Thank you so much for donating to my fundraiser. Please share with friends if you can, the more financial help I can get the better!
I have managed to secure a place on the one year foundation course at LIPA (Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts) for Acting, starting this September! 4 years later, after continuous auditions for several institutions, a lot of audition prep and study time, private lessons, short courses and a substantial amount of money spent from my own pocket, I have FINALLY made it!
Many of my artistic friends will know, it is a challenging industry at the best of times, but for those of you who don’t, being offered a place at a drama school is particularly difficult, more so than applying to a University Degree, as they receive thousands of applicants each year with only around 20 places to give to a range of different people from all backgrounds. Everyone’s journey is different, and although for some they are lucky enough to go straight into professional training at 18, others like myself find ourselves on a different path.
To make this lifelong dream of mine to come to fruition, I need to raise the money for my course fees as well as living costs. It is a private course; therefore, I cannot get access to any kind of student finance or maintenance loans. I have a small amount in savings, but as a self-employed performer and teacher, it would be impossible for me to fund this course myself. I also come from a low-income household, seriously affected by the current Covid crisis, so as much as my family would love to make this dream a reality for me, unfortunately its out of their financial reach. I have written to various individuals, charities and businesses asking for sponsorship, which I hope would raise the bulk of the money needed.
