Help Abi Get Urgent Surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sarah and I’m fundraising for my beautiful daughter Abi, who urgently needs surgery for a life-threatening condition.
Abi was born with a rare genetic condition called Amelogenesis Imperfecta. This meant she had very little enamel on her teeth, leaving her in constant pain throughout her childhood. After years of trying to save her teeth, in 2023 she had her last 14 remaining teeth removed in one surgery.
Since then, Abi has been using dentures. Unfortunately, wearing them already causes her pain, and we’ve now been told that in just a few years, her jawbone will no longer be able to support dentures at all. Over the years we have spent tens of thousands in an effort to help relieve Abi's pain and save her teeth as long as was possible.
In April, a CT scan showed devastating news: Abi’s upper jawbone is only 1.4mm thick, far too thin for standard implants or bone grafts. Without intervention, her maxilla bone will eventually collapse - a life-threatening situation. The only solution is a highly complex procedure called zygomatic implants, which anchor into the cheekbone.
This surgery is not available through the HSE in Ireland, so we must travel to Germany.
This is not a cosmetic procedure - it is absolutely essential for Abi’s health, comfort, and future.
The overall cost of surgery is far beyond what most families could ever afford, and although we have managed to cover the majority of the costs ourselves and through the generosity of family, this fundraiser is necessary to bridge the remaining shortfall.
We are asking for your help to make this surgery possible. Any donation, no matter the size, will bring us closer to giving Abi the chance to live without pain. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing our story to help us reach others who might be able to.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, supporting, and caring about Abi.
