This Fundraiser has been created to help me get the treatment I need to continue living.

My name is Abel Rodriguez I am the father of three and a loving husband. I have always loved baseball and have been a little league, Pony league, USSSA League coach for many years, helping the kids in the community where I live. I have always been involved in helping others without expecting anything in return.

In 2012 after feeling sick for a while I decided to seek medical help thinking I was just going for a checkup, but to my surprise I was diagnosed with stage 3 Colon Cancer. When I was told about this my world came to a halt, I felt devastated with no window to go through. I immediately received Chemo-therapy for 6 months with a total of 12 sessions. The Dr. proceeded by ordering a PET scan in June 2013 and according to the Dr. I was Cancer free. I felt a great relief for me and my family we had gone through the worst stage in our lives or so we thought.

I was told that I needed to continue to monitor my health and by following up with my Oncologist, Dr. Sarhill. In the month of April 2015 during a normal scheduled follow up, there was an abnormal blood count result. Due to this outcome a PET scan was ordered in which the results were devastating.  A    tumor was found in the liver.

A Biopsy was scheduled and done on April 28, 2015. I was at that point diagnosed with Stage 4 Liver Cancer. You can imagine the devastation my family felt when I told them. We had just gone through this and now I am back again fighting for my life.

My first chemo treatment was administered on May 6, 2015. This Chemo-treatment is one of, if not the hardest   treatment I have ever received. This Chemo has many side effects like; Nausea, Vomiting, Bleeding Problems, Anemia, Hair Loss, Appetite, Fatigue, Urination, Nerve, Memory, Mouth, Throat, Skin & Nail changes, Constipation, Diarrhea, Swelling, Infection and Pain. I am going through the worst time in my life, my family is already drained from the past treatments and I am unable to work to keep the family afloat and in good spirits.

What to do? Give up or fight for my life. I have decided to fight once again    not only for myself but for my wife and my kids. I sought the help of  Dr. Saenz who has requested a fairly new drug called Y90 Radioembolization treatment which are tiny glass or regin beads called microspheres which are placed inside the blood vessels that feed a tumor in order to block the supply of  blood to the cancer cells. This medication can only be brought in from Australia. I can be treated with this new breakthrough medicine in which there are only two Doctors that can perform    this procedure from Houston to the    RGV. 

This all sounds wonderful in theory but the reality is that expenses could be, but should not be what stops me from getting what could very well be my life saving treatment. One treatment could cost up to $15,000.00 per dose. This is why I need your HELP.

I am laying this here today to all of you. I am begging you from the bottom  of my heart, Please help us save my life. I deserve to have more time with    my spouse and children.
