It was Tuesday May 24, 2016 when our world changed. We recieved a phone call telling us that our dad had been in an accident at work. The front axel of a 10 ton grader fell on his chest, crushing him. Thanks to the fast actions of Mike Schellenberg and his team and the Alberta Health Services Paramedics, he arrived at the Fort Vermilion Hospital in 15 Minutes. This is where Doctor Stephan and the team of nurses began the fight to save his life,
Not Knowing the severity or the extent of his injuries, family dropped everything and rushed to his side, praying as we drove, that God would spare his life.
After what felt like was a life time, our dad was stabilized and was able to be flown to Edmonton. We all gathered around to say goodbye, not knowing if it would be our last time.
Once he arrive at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, we learned the extent of his injuries and how miraculous it is that he had survived. Our dad has suffered from 10 broken ribs, 2 broken shoulder blades, fractures of the thoracic portion of the spine, a broken sternum, both lungs had been punctured, the liver and adrenal gland have been damaged, his heart also has been bruised, All the above injuries have caused massive internal bleeding. Currently, he remains in stable, but critical condition. The Doctors, nurses, and our family continue to be amazed at his progress. His journey to recovery will be long and hard.
My dad has always been a hard worker and shown us an example of strength, kindness, patience, and love while he lived everyday for God and has always been there for all of us and his community. Dad is the kind of guy who would drop what he was doing in order to help anyone, even if he did not know the person well. Now our goal is to give back to him, in this time of need. Being the sole provider for his family and with our mom being unable to provide while she is by his side, this is making it hard for them finacially. Currently, there is no income and our mother is in Edmonton with minimal family and no friends. She is currently moving from hotel room to hotel room, not knowing where she will end up each night with the inability to pay for a roof over her head. While she is away taking care of dad, their bills have become the last of their priorities and while we know that God will provide we are asking for your help.
Many have expressed their desire to help, so we are making this go fund me available to give a gift big or small.
We are overwhelemed and so thankful for all the prayers and support that we have already recieved and we know that it is only because of Gods grace and mercy that our dad is still with us today. May God bless you all.
If you wish to contribute in another manner, please do not hesitate to contact the family.
