Hi, my name is MJ Smith, and I'm creating this campaign on behalf of my dear friend Abdullah in Gza. Anything you can give to help Abdullah and his family survive would be more than greatly appreciated!
Here is Abdullah's story in his own words (translated):
"I am Abdullah Odeh. Before the suffering, I lived in Gza, Al-Rimal. Unfortunately, our house in Gza was destroyed after the army entered the area of Al-Shifa Medical Hospital. When the suffering began, the Israeli army displaced us to the south, specifically Khan Yunis. Then the army entered Khan Yunis, so we went to Rafah. Then the army entered Rafah, so then we went to Mawasi, Khan Yunis.
My family and I consist of 6 people. My mother Ruwaida, my father Khaled, my three brothers Alaa, Muhammad, and Omar, and me.
Before October 7, I used to work as a social worker in development institutions such as:
- Dr. Haider Abdel Shafi Center for Culture and Development
- Women's Programs Center
- Doctors of the World Spain
I was also a theater actor and performed many meaningful plays. Additionally, I also used to work as an accountant in a popular restaurant (Zahran).
Because we are are a large family and preparing for the arrival of winter, we need to raise funds for our survival. Our biggest priority is buying a new tent before winter comes, as our currently tent does not protect us from the cold."
Due to the besiegement and closure of Rafah Crossing, Abdullah and his family are currently trapped with no way out. Once the border crossing reopens, they plan to evacuate to Egypt. Prior to the crossing closure, Hala Travel Agency in Egypt was charging at least $5000 per person to cross the border. Assuming this will resume once the crossing reopens, we need to raise at least $30,000 just to get them all across. In the meantime, we need to raise funds for them to buy food and humanitarian necessities, as well as their new tent.
Again, anything you can give will be greatly appreciated. If you're unable to spare any money, it would be amazing if you could share this campaign link to your family, friends, and social media.
