Abdul Said

We are raising funds in loving memory of our dear brother and friend, Abdul Said.

Abdul was a kind, gentle soul who was loved deeply by everyone who knew him. He was well known across East London, and within the Somali communities in both London and Bristol. His presence brought comfort, his words brought reflection, and his friendship meant everything to so many of us.

Abdul had been struggling with his mental health, and in February 2026 he made the brave decision to admit himself into Mile End Hospital, seeking help and safety. Tragically, on the 28th of February 2026, Abdul was attacked while in the mental health unit — a place where he was supposed to be protected and cared for. After several days in hospital, he sadly passed away on the 5th of March 2026.
This loss has been devastating. It is hard to come to terms with the way he left this world, especially knowing he had reached out for help.

I met Abdul in hospital back in 2023, and from that moment we became very close friends. We spoke every single day. We supported each other through our struggles, and shared many deep conversations — often about life, Islam, and the reality of death. One of my most cherished memories is praying together at the East London Mosque. Those moments will stay with me forever.

The last time I spoke to Abdul, he asked me to come and visit him. I wasn’t able to, as I was too far away — something that will always weigh heavily on my heart.

Abdul did not have much family here in the UK, and sadly, we were not even informed properly about his burial — when it took place, how it happened, or where he was laid to rest. This has made the grief even more difficult for those who loved him.

In honour of Abdul, we are raising money to build a bucket and water well in Ghana — a form of Sadaqah Jariyah (continuous charity) that will benefit others in his name long after he has passed. It is our hope that this will be a source of ongoing الخير (good deeds) for him, and a way to keep his legacy alive.

Abdul was a brother to many of us. He was never alone in this world, and he will never be forgotten.

Please support in any way you can — whether through donation or sharing this page. May Allah have mercy on him, forgive him, and grant him the highest level of Jannah.
Ameen.
