Hi! My name is Arlo (they/he) and I am a trans genderqueer person living in Washington, DC.
I started transitioning four years ago, and I am really excited to be getting my top surgery this August! This operation is a big part of my transition, as it is one of my greatest sources of dysphoria. Though I am lucky enough to have some of my operation covered by insurance, it will not cover it in full. I am currently a full-time engineering student and work three jobs in addition to volunteering as a guide for my university’s outdoor organization.
I am responsible for contributing to rent, tuition, groceries, and covering the operation cost (recovery and such). Due to recovery time I will be out of work for at least a month. As such I have set my goal to be $5,000.
I am asking for my community's help to get me there! The cost of these procedures is certainly a barrier, but it’s absolutely life saving care.
I cannot possibly explain what it means to me to have this surgery. I have worn a binder/taped most days since 2020 and am looking forward to moving freely and presenting in a way that feels most genuine. If you can give, I would greatly appreciate it.
