Help Me Stabilize My Life After an Unexpected Job Loss

“After losing my husband five years ago and now unexpectedly losing my job, I’m asking for help so I can stay in my home and manage my medical needs while I work to rebuild.”

My name is Tracey, and asking for help like this is something I never imagined I would have to do.

Five years ago, I lost my husband after nearly 28 years of marriage. Recently I passed what would have been our 28th wedding anniversary without him. Losing a partner after so many years changes your life in ways that are hard to explain. Since then, I have done my best to stay strong, work hard, and continue rebuilding my life.

Recently, I lost my job unexpectedly. In a very short time, the stability I worked so hard to maintain disappeared, and I now find myself facing a situation I never thought I would be in.

I am currently behind on my rent and trying to catch up so I can remain in my home. At the same time, I am managing ongoing health challenges, including arthritis in both of my knees and diabetes. When I lost my job, I also lost my health insurance.

One of my diabetes medications costs nearly $1,000 per month without insurance, compared to about $40 when covered. Without income or insurance, managing my health has become extremely difficult.

I am actively searching for work every day and doing everything I can to move forward. I truly believe this is a temporary season, but right now I need help getting through this difficult moment while I rebuild.

The support from this campaign will help me:

• Catch up on $11,000 in past-due rent so I can remain in my home
• Cover essential medical needs and diabetes medication
• Stay current on basic living expenses while I search for work

This support would give me the breathing room I need to focus fully on finding employment and getting back on my feet.

I have always tried to handle life on my own, and asking for help is humbling. But sometimes we all need support during difficult seasons.

If you are able to contribute, no matter the amount, I would be deeply grateful. If you cannot donate, simply sharing this page could help it reach someone who can.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any kindness you are able to offer.

With gratitude,
Tracey
