Abby’s First Album

My journey with songwriting began when I wrote the chorus to my first song in the third grade on the bus ride home from school. The second we got to the bus stop, I jumped off, ran home, and locked myself in my bedroom to write the rest. Granted, to give you an idea of how “good” it was, think of the best you can do when you’re 8 years old and partially tone deaf… and…you can imagine from there. YEARS went by before I mustered up to courage to sing the song to my siblings, and the next thing I know, we were all dressed up and filming a music video in my mom’s bathroom. It hasn’t left me since.

Flash forward a few years, in 2022, I felt super inspired and began writing songs for an EP that I planned to put out in 2023. The key word here was “planned”. Little did we know 2023 was going to be a very difficult year for us and all our intentions got thrown to the wayside amidst some very unforeseen hardships. During that year, I poured all of the pain and confusion into writing new, more meaningful songs and realized that God was using everything we had been through to steer my craft. Since then, there has not been one day in the last two years that my hands have not touched those keys. I realize now that my purpose in wanting to release these songs is not just to create an outlet for myself, but for my music to encourage other people through what life inevitably brings.

Now, I’ve never felt more sure that this is something I’m supposed to do. The only fork in the road is finding the resources to make it happen. Anyone that knows the music industry is aware of how much tedious time and energy it takes to make a single song happen. It requires professionals to put in hours of meticulous work for the production, mixing, and mastering, and the cost definitely reflects that. As of now, I have a 9 song album and will need about $10k from start to finish to make it all happen!
