Abby's Birthday Wish: Support Tarot's Recovery
Donation protected
My name is Abby and I adopted my cat Tarot when she was about a year old in 2020. At the time, I was a senior in college living off-campus. She was a COVID cat who loved my roommates being at home all the time. Now she lives in an apartment with my fiancé, Ben, and me. Luckily, Ben works from home, so she still gets plenty of attention.
I always say that Tarot is like a dog in that she loves meeting new people. I feel very pleased when the vet compliments how easy-going she is. I couldn't have asked for a sweeter kitty cat.
In February, we noticed a bump on her right arm. We got it checked out by the vet, and it came back from the lab as inflammation. However, it kept growing quite steadily and then rapidly. On April 23rd (Ben and my seven-year dating anniversary), a punch biopsy was performed. Tarot was diagnosed with a soft tissue sarcoma. This is a very locally aggressive cancer which thankfully has a lower chance of spreading in the body. However, it has taken over about half of her arm.
After meeting with an oncologist, we've decided to follow her recommendation to amputate Tarot's front right leg. The surgery is set for May 14th. The estimated cost, including a hospital stay overnight, is about $6,000.
All I'm asking for my birthday this month is a donation of any size to offset the financial cost of Tarot's surgery. I appreciate any and all help. My hope is to give her many more years of life (to purr, play, and meow at us in the morning). Thank you for considering.
