Many of us know Abby through Hope Christian School, Church or friend groups. Wherever you got to know this amazing family I know you have grown to love and care for them just as me and my family have…
Abby has gone through 16 years of trials, tests, surgeries, exams, pain, and the list goes on. Not only has she gone through this very tough journey – of course her family has gone through this with her as well.
Any of us that have been responsible for a family know the costs of raising kids even without the huge medical bills that are never all covered by insurance as well as the cost to travel to other places to get the care that Abby needs and deserves. An example is this June 7th when Abby will have another surgery in New York attended by a leading physician that feels he can help her have a better quality of life.
I know only partially what it feels like to be helpless to help a child who is hurting. I have some idea of what lengths I would go to protect and provide for my family and children. Tim and Margaret Woods are amazing examples of selfless parents who have given their all to provide for their family and make sure that Abby has every opportunity to be well and succeed.
I challenge our community, school, and city to contribute to a fund that would only partially take care of healthcare co-payments, travel, medical equipment, and time off work for Tim and Margaret.
Can we not postpone buying that new car for a few months and put the payments in this fund, can we not buy that new TV for the living room or stay home one weekend instead of traveling out of town and put the money to better use taking care of such special people.
It would be great to have a large donation ready by the time they leave next week so let’s give!!!
Act 2:43-45 says: “A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need.”
