Hello! My name is Abigail Borsodi and I am currently in the 8th grade . This GoFund Me us being set up to ask for your support toward my participation in the 2020 Blue Lake International Exchange Program through the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. I will be playing the French Horn with the Northern Winds Ensemble. The tentative countries for the 2020 International Northern Winds tour are Germany, Denmark, and Belgium! I am so excited for and proud of this opportunity!
The Blue Lake International Exchange Program's aim is to foster international understanding among youth. Their goal is to help broaden a student’s scope of people from other countries by demonstrating that we are more alike than not. This experience will help me develop new friendships through common ground. On an individual level, the program will offer me an opportunity to grow in maturity during this international travel. I will enjoy many new experiences while traveling, and each one will create a deeper sense of my individuality, self-confidence, and independence. I aspire to be a future leader in our society who can help promote peace through a broader appreciation of the world.
I am very proud to have auditioned and been invited to participate. I have been studying music for 7 years, beginning piano at the age of 6 and then the French Horn for two years. I currently play in my Middle School Concert Band and the High School Marching Band. After I return, I plan to continue my studies in music and I am committed to sharing my experience with the students and teachers at my school. I will also help and encourage my fellow students in their own studies through peer mentorship.
During my 3 weeks abroad, I will proudly represent my township, school and family as my ensemble visits five to seven communities, performing in each location. In some instances, groups are given the opportunity to perform for community officials, dignitaries, and leaders. I will be staying with a host family at each stop, learning about the language and culture from them while further building life-long relationships and deepening my understanding of their community.
My parents and I are working hard at making this trip possible for me, but we are seeking donations and sponsorships to help offset the expenses. I am looking to fundraise at least 50% of my trip cost. The balance will be paid for by my parents, donations from local community organizations, and work that I am doing such as bottle return drives, babysitting, auctioning of my art work and working at our local community theater.
