We all need help sometimes, and it has come to my attention that some of our friends need help. Matt and Abby are both amazing artists and even better people. They have dealt with a string of unfortunate events over the past few years, not to mention Matt's battle with cancer.
Abby has been out of work for the last month with various health problems, and Matt has been their sole provider while they attempted to get to the bottom of her medical issues. She has been through specialists and scans to try to get some answers, but they've been unsuccessful thus far.
On Monday, March 6th, Matt was in a car accident. Here's what Abby said:
"Monday Matt had a minor car accident and was rushed to Vanderbilt, because the police said he was not making any sense. He didn't know who he was, where he was, or what was happening. They had to sedate him to get him a CT scan. When I got there he had blood all over his body and a black eye.
We discovered he had fractured his spine on his lower back somehow as well as a hematoma along his back. They had to keep him for 3 days hooked up to different machines to figure out what was wrong. The EEG was inconclusive but they only had it on him for 2 hours. They gave him an MRI last night and the results still gave them a lot of questions. He had some thickening in the tissue that covers the brain... Meanwhile, he is taking medicine for epilepsy and he is not supposed to drive for 6 months in case he had a seizure. He also has to have a spinal tap to check for cancer cells, since he has had it in the past.
I was in Jackson when I got the call bc I had a doctors appt the next day. Obviously I decided to reschedule and head to vandy. For the past month I have been having a lot of stomach issues. I got to a point where I couldn't eat without throwing up. I have had so many ultrasounds of my abdomen, we have ruled out several things so next is a gastroenterology. This has kept me from working for a month. Matt was supporting us both so we are getting so behind on bills. I am able now to go back to working a bit but we are scrambling to pay for the next month's bills and rent. Just need a hand for a bit until we can get better and back on our feet."
We all need somebody to lean on sometimes. I hope you'll all help if you can, and if you can't, I hope you'll share their story with someone who can.
Love and light, Madison
