Abby and Keanu Faumuina baby loss expenses

After years of trying to conceive, Abby and Keanu were ecstatic to find themselves expecting. When they were 14 weeks along, with the baby having a strong heartbeat, they decided to get an ultrasound to find out the gender of their baby. What they found out was devastating. Their sweet baby had extreme defects. It was determined that he has and extremely rare condition called Limb Body Wall Complex. Ledger is nearly perfect from the chest up and he moves his little arms and mouth and is so cute! The rest of his poor body is just a mess. His spine is not fully formed and it is twisted.  One leg is very small and the other is backwards with a club foot. His insides have no skin encasing them at all and are just floating all around. There is no way to fix this condition because of it's extremity. Most babies with this condition are aborted. The ones who are not usually die in utero or are born much sooner than Ledger, between 28 to 34 weeks. However, our family has been blessed to feel the sweet  and so very joyful spirit of Ledger for nearly 37 weeks now. Abby will get a scheduled C-section on the 12th.  

Abby and Keanu have been such an inspiration to so many during this time. Instead of becoming angry and bitter, they have embraced this pregnancy and loved this baby with all of their hearts. Their faith and closeness to our Savior has increased incredibly. They have  amazing strength of faith and character. Of course they grieve. So much. It is a heartbreaking situation. They manage to keep faith and find joy even through their grief though. Also, so many people have just showed so much love, kindness, and support. It has been an amazing and beautiful thing to see. 

Luckily, they have insurance to cover most medical expenses, however, there will be some expenses not covered, such as a headstone, and a little loss of income as Keanu takes a  very short amount of time to take care of and help Abby through the birth and Memorial Service of their son.
