Our dog, Harvey, can no longer walk on his back legs. He had recently been diagnosed with luxating patellas in both rear legs; a common condition in his breed which causes his kneecaps to slip in and out of place. His patellar luxation has now caused torn ACL's and fluid build-up in his joints and requires surgery to correct, so he can bear weight on his back legs and walk again.

The double cruciate repair - extracapsular and patella luxation surgery will be done in two parts, starting with his right rear leg which is in worse condition than his left. From our understanding, this ACL reconstruction surgery not only repairs the torn ligaments, but also deepens the groove where the patella (kneecap) sits to avoid it popping out in the future. After Harvey heals from his first surgery, he can continue with the following surgery for the left rear leg. With these surgeries he's expected to make a full recovery and be able to walk and play like a healthy dog again.

We've spent $921.50 in vet bills this month in hopes of diagnosing and treating Harvey's leg injuries, and will need to pay an additional $4370 per leg, totaling $8740 for surgery alone. This does not include any post-op follow ups or x-rays.

Any donations or shares would mean the world to us!
