Hello! My name is Rachel Krasnevich and this AMAZING 8 year-old little girl is my cousin and Goddaughter Abigail Zuraw. Abbey is the only child of her wonderful parents Dennis and Jessica Zuraw. Anyone that knows Abbey will tell you that she is intelligent, caring, thoughful, athletic, sympathetic and beautful inside and out. She loves her family and friends, school, playing, glitter and being herself. I am starting this campaign to help off-set some of the medical costs to Abbey and her family. Here is her story...
On the evening April 18th, 2015, after having enjoyed a beautiful spring day biking and playing outside, Jess discovered a large lump on Abbey's neck. After a trip to the the ER with bloodwork, xrays and scan, Denny and Jess were told by the doctor that they had found some abnormalities and referreed Abbey to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Within a week, Abbey had more tests and a biopsy and was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin's Lympoma.
The folks at Children's Hospital have been wonderful and Abbey has just completed Round 1 of her chemotherapy and Round 2 starting in a couple weeks. Abbey started to loose her hair this past week (a nasty side effect of treatment) and in support BOTH of her parents joined in shaving thier heads so Abbey would not have to go through it alone.
Abbey has remained her usual wonderfully happy self throughout the entire process so far and she has shown so much courage and strenghth. She makes me so proud and I can't wait to see her grow up to be a strong, beautiful young woman- but in the meantime I am committed to doing all that I can to make sure Abbey and her family are not worring about the cost of care but focus ALL of their energy into helping Abbey get healthy.
