Abbey's Medical Relief Fund

On 3/1/23 Abbey suffered a freak accident while at work. When cleaning out the salon fridge, one of the drawers had become frozen to the back of the fridge. As Abbey pulled to open it a large, sharp piece of plexiglass snapped off and flew into her eye, puncturing it. The plastic was able to cut through her pupil and cornea. Abbey was able to make it to urgent care, at which time she was rushed to the hospital. The accident required emergency surgery, but the right team of doctors was not available at that hospital. Therefore, Abbey was then transferred to an out-of-network hospital and had the surgery performed 16 hours later.
Despite having significant blurred vision, pain, body soreness, nausea, and dizziness, the surgery went well. However, Abbey was left with a long recovery ahead including a covered eye, no driving, no heavy lifting, etc. After surgery, Abbey had three additional ophthalmologist visits and was told she would not fully recover vision to the level she had before the injury. During this recovery, Abbey was prevented from being able to do hair and run her salon suite. As Abbey owns her own business, she did not have the option for short-term disability or unemployment. Therefore, she was left with no income for an extended period and the hospital bills began piling up for her out-of-network medical care.
Unfortunately, later it was determined that Abbey's iris was not healing correctly, so she was required to get a second out-of-network surgery on 3/27/23. This resulted in significant medical expenses and even more missed work. Because of the extent of her injury, it was critical that Abbey rest as much as possible and not over-extend the use of her eye. Her job requires her to be on her feet all day, and extensive use of her eyesight as most of the work she does is tedious and intricate. Therefore, despite the financial pressure to return to work, it was important for Abbey to take time off.
While Abbey is improving daily and doing as best as she can, she still has a long road ahead of her. Anyone that knows Abbey knows that she is the most selfless and caring person. Abbey always puts others above herself and is the first to help a friend in a time of need. Abbey would never ask for help, but this awful accident has taken a toll on Abbey and Anthony physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. If you are able to, we ask you to please donate anything to help Abbey pay off the cost of her surgeries, eye care, and missed work so she can get back into a place of stability. Abbey and her family are forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support they have received and thank everyone for their continued prayers!
