GoFinMe

Well hey there! This is Tali Amero and Abbey Slinker. We’re architecture students at the University of Maine, and this summer, we hope to travel to Helsinki Finland for our degree-required travel course. Crossing the Atlantic in mid-June, we’ll travel around four Finnish cities with a handful of peers and two insightful and enthusiastic professors over the duration of ten days.

      As I type with one hand and grip the trip itinerary in the other, it occurs to me that Abbey and I will have our work cut out for us in order to take in the many places and ideas that are in store of us. We will hone our skills as future architects through analytical drawing and experiential research. While our lives in New England are naturally inspiring and picturesque, traveling is one of the most important aspects of education, especially for architects. Among walls and under roofs in which we have yet to stand, we will learn to design walls and roofs in which you might one day stand.

     So, who are we exactly? We’re two friends who are halfway through our bachelor of architecture. I have had architecture on the brain since I was small, and I couldn’t be happier that I’m finally studying what I love. I also run, antique, and even juggle in my free time. Meanwhile, Abbey discovered architecture among long-time abandoned buildings that she explores, draws, and photographs. In her free time, she enjoys bike rides, her expansive album collection, and her unusually sweet cat, Gus.
