Dear Friends and Family,
My name is Abigail Carlson and I’m a sophomore at South Dakota State University looking to invest in my spiritual development this summer. I am a member of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at SDSU, where I have grown tremendously in my faith over this last school year.
My campus staff members have asked me to attend InterVarsity Leadership Institute (IVLI), a month-long program, this summer. This month will train me to be a leader on campus, in the church, and the world for the rest of my life. I am positive that it will impact my life in many ways.
I feel led by God to attend and am writing you to consider giving to help make this possible. The cost of IVLI is $1399. I know that is a lot of money but I also know many camps cost $500 for just one week and this is four weeks. I am hoping to raise a total of $2700, which will pay for IVLI and make up what I could earn in July at $8/hour. Without help, I can’t afford the cost of IVLI while losing a month’s wage.
Would you prayerfully consider giving a gift of $50, $100, $200, or however you feel led? Unfortunately, there is no legal way this can be a tax-deductible gift because IRS rules consider this kind of giving to be a personal gift. Please know that if for some reason I am not able to go, I will send your gift back to you.
